Jared Enterprises, Inc was formed by Jerry and Linda Jared on January 1, 2006. The forerunner of Jared Enterprises, Inc. was CRW Properties, Inc. among other related entities which were founded by Clarence R. Wheeler for the purpose of real estate investment and development. Clarence had started a chain of grocery stores in 1948 that grew into a thirty-eight store chain in four states. The grocery store business was sold in June 1990, and the remaining real estate, consisting of commercial retail buildings, was leased to supermarket companies.
After the passing of its founder in July 1997, CRW Properties, Inc. realized the supermarket business was changing with the times. Considering these new opportunities, the company decided to utilize the existing buildings for conversion to office buildings and for expansion into the retail market with that expansion consisting of the first Cody's Convenience Store purchase in July 2002 at the intersection of Highways 60 and 125, in the area formerly known as Cody, Missouri.
In March 2009, Jared Enterprises sold the operations of it’s chain of 37 Cody’s Convenience Stores to Kum & Go, making their main focus commercial real estate investment, development and management. On December 31, 2010 CRW Properties, Inc., among other entities, was merged into Jared Enterprises Inc. with Jared Enterprises being the surviving corporation.
Today Jared Enterprises along with its subsidiary companies has expanded its holdings to over 1.5 million square feet of commercial use properties, and approximately 47,000 square feet for residential use, and several tracks of land for future growth. Of these figures, Jared Enterprises stills owns and leases eleven of the previous big box grocery stores that were part of the original supermarket chain. Some of these locations remain supermarkets, while others have been turned into colleges and learning facilities. In addition, Jared Enterprises has built and acquired retail centers, office buildings, warehouse, multi-purpose facilities, and free standing retail buildings in Nixa, Ozark, Rogersville, and Springfield. The residential real estate owned and managed by Jared Enterprises ranges from single family dwellings, lofts, and duplexes in Battlefield, Republic, Rogersville, and Springfield.
Jared Enterprises has been a family owned and operated business since 1948, in its various forms, and continues to remain so today.
